Every visitor to Prague sees the Astronomical Clock and the Old Town Square. Far fewer discover the quiet places just a few steps away, the ones locals love and where a date suddenly feels private, even in the heart of the city.
Ungelt courtyard
Behind the Týn Church lies Ungelt, a medieval merchants’ courtyard with cafés, small galleries and almost no traffic. In the evening it is one of the most atmospheric corners of the Old Town and a lovely place for a glass of wine.
The passages
Prague is crossed by dozens of passages, covered arcades that connect streets through old buildings. Some hide cinemas, others bookshops or tiny bars. Exploring them hand in hand feels like discovering a secret city.
Gothic cellars
Much of the Old Town was built on top of older Romanesque and Gothic houses. Today many of these vaulted cellars are wine bars and restaurants lit by candles, perfect for an intimate dinner far from the crowds above.
Na Kampě at night
Strictly speaking Kampa Island belongs to Malá Strana, but it is only a short walk across Charles Bridge. At night the park under the chestnut trees is quiet and romantic, with one of the most beautiful views of the river.
The magic of Prague is in its details: a carved doorway, a lantern in a narrow street, a courtyard you would never find without someone to show you.
Let a local show you
Many of our ladies have lived in Prague for years and love showing their favourite places to visitors. If you would like a companion who can be your private guide for an evening, tell us when you book and we will match you with a lady who knows the city best.
